But she replied that he should maintain the warrior pride, which she liked about him, and that he should not completely abandon his culture. King Harald countered by saying that because of these old cultural rules, they were not allowed to marry. Sadly, this was the last conversation between them, and she died. We then see all the sad reactions of the king and their son and at last Ida’s grave.

But the happiness faded quickly when, in Aurust Castle, he was given a duty by Imu to use the entire country to make an army of warriors and build a giant fleet to rival the Navy, which was totally against the ideology of King Harald. At that moment, he knew he got played and brutally betrayed by the higher-ups, and the mark which was given by Imu on his hand started controlling him to follow orders.

Artwork & Style Favourite Panel

I really like how Oda perfectly portrays each person’s grief over Ida’s death, giving beautiful panels and reactions to them: the king, who hides his tears; his stepson Loki, who becomes lonely again; and the beloved son, who is crying immensely.

Fan Theories & Predictions

The next chapter will mainly focus on the tragic battle between King Harald and Loki, and how Loki is currently portrayed as the father killer. We will also get some interesting information about how the Holy Knight’s powers and mark work, and the end of every sad arc is approaching.

Conclusion

The tragic story of King Harald will most likely meet a fate similar to his best friend, Rock D. Xebec, which is classic storytelling by Oda. It shows how the character was brutally played and ended up with a result he absolutely never wanted for his country. The way Oda frames the cruelty of power and politics in the One Piece world—no matter how noble or well-intentioned a person is, higher powers can twist their destiny, leaving heartbreak and loss in their wake.
