Review & breakdown of One Piece 1170: Loki’s awakening, Harald’s fall, the God Knights’ weakness exposed, and Elbaf’s final protector revealed.

In the latest chapter 1170 of the One Piece manga, we finally see the climax of the flashback given by Loki to Hajrudin, the real truth about their father's death. We see Loki finally eating the Elbaf legendary devil fruit, and his power up. We also know lots of information and also weaknesses of the god knights, let's dive into the review of Chapter 1170

Chapter Summary

The chapter starts with Loki confused about who threw the hammer at him and trying to enter the room again to eat the devil fruit, where he sees the floor starting to get cracks from where the hammer had landed before, and the Ragnir hammer increased in its weight and broke the floor, and Loki got super confused and yelled, are you kidding me, this hammer is this heavy? and the floor crumbled, and Loki barely climbed up the floor and got safe.

Then King Harald stated the legendary Devil Fruit passed down from Elbaf. No one has eaten it for hundreds of years because no one was able to eat it, because the Ragnir hammer does not acknowledge anyone and protects it. And King Harald said, With this power and immortality, I will surely eat it.

At that moment, Shanks and Gaban attacked and cut the leg of King Harald, coating their weapons with Conqueror’s Haki, and it damaged him, and Harald and Gaban stated the weakness of God Knights: if you coat your attacks with Conqueror’s Haki and do a barrage of attacks, you can defeat a Holy Knight, in which Shanks responded, how do you know this, Gaban?

Gaban tells Shanks that in the past, God Knights have come to take you back more than once, and Shanks tells him he remembers something Saint Sommers said about it, and Gaban responded yes, he remembers an interesting tale from the past, and he was surprised to see the combat force of the Celestial Dragons, regarding how they are useless and literally called themselves gods, to which Shanks replies his life could be the same but its not , and Gaban responded that it’s fate.

That aside, Harald slightly recovered and attacks again. Shanks says, Gaban, I want to save Harald, but Gaban replied, because of what you told about God Knights’ powers and fate, the only hope left for now is Loki. Why? Because King Harald starts advancing to the devil fruit floor and starts using a Conqueror’s Haki attack, which even shocks Gaban because this is the first time he has seen a God Knight using Conqueror’s Haki.

Loki gets frustrated and coats his weapon with Haki and attacks with all his might at the Ragnir, and the two hammers clash, and Loki’s one gets broken, but it did its job. We see Ragnir’s true self, which got de-transformed, which is a squirrel hammer attached to his head, which got a bump on it and he is crying (very Oda way of showing emotions), and he acknowledges and guides Loki to the devil fruit room, and Loki eats it and transforms, which is not shown fully, just a silhouette, which is so big that even giant soldiers are looking small, seeing this The squirrel is very happy.

King Harald enters the floor and, seeing Loki eat the legendary devil fruit, he says, show me the legendary devil fruit power, and Loki attacks his father and we see very destructive damage on King Harald and his part is removed in the mark of a claw. In that process, his hand was cut completely, in which he got an abyss mark, and King Harald regained his consciousness, until it starts regenerating completely.

Then we see the final and heart-wrenching goodbye between father and son. Harald told him, I knew it, Loki, you have the blood of Conquerors flowing inside you, and Loki yells, you have come to your senses, you were mind controlled and Harald replies, but not for too long, and I am beyond redemption, and tells Loki not quite like mind control, it’s like my thoughts have completely changed and I feel myself like a god. And Loki starts crying and says, you are the worst father, having your own son take your life, what kind of father does that, and we glimpse Shanks hiding his tears and knows how it will end. And King Harald says one last thing, I was touched that you burned down the alcohol village for Ida, even if it does not bring her back, but it shows how much you love her, and hurry up, it’s taking control. And Loki responded, I will never forgive you for making me do all this dirty work here, and Harald says his last words to Loki, I love you too.

Loki then delivers his final and strongest move, coated with conquers Haki and plus Ragnir's hammer lightning strike and King Harald's last thought was Loki, my dear son only thing that really matters is securing Elbaf's future

Analysis & important confirmation

This chapter reveals several crucial points about the God Knights, Ragnir, and the overall power system. First, the weakness of God Knights is clearly stated: coating attacks with Conqueror’s Haki and launching continuous barrages can damage and even defeat a Holy Knight.

This explains why Shanks and Gaban were able to cut King Harald’s leg and why Gaban already knew this method, hinting at past encounters when God Knights tried to take Shanks back.

Second, Ragnir is not just a weapon but a living being that chooses its user. Its increasing weight, floor-breaking power, and final de-transformation into a crying squirrel hammer show it protects the legendary devil fruit until it acknowledges someone worthy.

Third, the Abyss mark is important, as Harald gains it after losing his hand, showing regeneration but also a lasting curse or control. Lastly, Loki’s transformation silhouette confirms the devil fruit’s overwhelming scale, setting him up as the final hope against God Knight's fate and mind control.

Artwork & Style favourite panel

My favourite panel was Loki’s last attack on King Harald, filled with raw emotion and tragedy. Loki crying while striking his own father, and Harald calmly accepting his tragic end, perfectly captures the emotional weight of the chapter. The expressions, the silence, and the sense of unavoidable fate make it a very Oda-like, heartbreaking moment that stays with the reader that makes Loki stock skyrocket in the favourite character list

 Fan Theories & Predictions

The next chapter, Loki flashback ends most likely, and we face the current Elbaf situation, and we know Elbaf people are Domi Reverse, and we see it’s impossible to get away with Domi Reverse but we might get it’s possible in extremely rare circumstances, if not, will Imu Domi Reverse Loki? . Lots of theories are cooking, but we will see what Oda has in store for us.

Comment your predictions, what will happen next…..

Conclusion

Chapter 1170 of One Piece masterfully combines intense action, emotional depth, and world-building and Loki finally tells his previous king's secret to others or at least us readers and how he chose this path to portray himself as evil
